Overview
Kona Village is a Rosewood resort on the Kohala Coast of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The 81-acre property opened in 2023, and its solar is mounted on a 3.7-acre bed of volcanic pumice that was ground down to create space for the racking. The ground coverage ratio for the project is 80% at a 6° tilt, enabling a high density of kilowatts per acre. The 8-inch leading-edge height is optimal for ground-mount arrays.
Sollega has been providing racking for ground mounts in Hawaii for fifteen years — polymer-based systems are ideal for coastal locations. BASF Ultramid glass-reinforced polymer does not rust or corrode and holds up in harsh salt-spray conditions. The one-piece FastRack 510-6dg requires no assembly, and its universal design allowed the ground crew to install modules and ballast quickly and efficiently.
