Overview
Sollega supplied the FastRack 510-6dg ballasted mounting system for the installation on Florida Power & Light and NextEra Energy's new 270,000 sq ft headquarters, comprising the PGA office building and a three-story parking garage with 38 electric-vehicle charging stations.
Because the site sits in an area with often unpredictable weather, the array was constructed to withstand up to 165 mph winds. That resilience was achieved by deploying mid-buckets, which allowed more ballast blocks to be used and increased overall ballast weight. The architecture of the building itself was designed with PV loading in mind. FR510-6dg was selected for its proven track record and corrosion resistance, enabling a fully ballasted (9 psf) 950.54 kW array on the top floor with zero roof attachments. BASF Ultramid will not rust or corrode despite the facility's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
The fully-ballasted array totals 2,486 × LG 405W modules. The one-piece FR510-6dg is a 'build-as-you-go' system that is quick to ship, stage, and install, with a 6° tilt that achieves an 80% ground coverage ratio.
